Four people have been arrested after thefts from shops in Bolton town centre. 

Police arrested the quartet yesterday, Friday, after reports of stealing in the town. 

Officers detained a 43-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman after reports of shoplifting from Boots, followed by a 24-year-old woman who police say was found with items "believed to be stolen" on her person. All three were arrested on suspicion of theft. 

Another woman, aged 42, was also arrested, having been wanted on suspicion of theft. 

All four remain in custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Bolton GMP said: "It's been another busy afternoon for the Bolton Town Centre team. 

"After reports of a theft from Boots, officers from the shoplifting team have arrived and located two persons, a male, 43, and a female, 29. They have been searched and found in possession of suspected stolen goods, and subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft.

"A further report was made of a suspected shoplifting involving two persons. One of which, a female, 24, was detained at scene and arrested on suspicion of theft after items believed to be stolen were found on her person.

"A female, 42, circulated wanted on suspicion of theft has also been arrested after eagle eyed officers from C Relief Response spotted her. All four remain in custody for questioning by the Town Centre Neighbourhood Team."
