The M61 in Greater Manchester is closed between J6 and J5 near Bolton for emergency resurfacing following a vehicle fire.
Crews are on scene and resurfacing will be taking place overnight with the closure being removed before the morning.

Diversion Route Road users are advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs: Leave the M61 south at J6 and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit on the A6027.
Continue to the A6027/A6 roundabout and take the 1st exit onto the A6 southbound.
Follow the A6 to the A6/A58 roundabout and take the 1st exit onto the A58 eastbound.
Continue on the A58 back to the roundabout with the M61 J5 and take the 3rd exit to rejoin the M61 southbound.
If this closure impacts on your planned route, allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
