Firefighters rescued a 60-year-old woman from a house fire in Edgworth last night.

Crews were called to the burning property in Lower Meadow, Edgworth just before 11pm.

The woman was rescued from the bedroom of the property after a fire broke out in her living room.

Firefighters used the smoke hood to remove her from the building. 

She was taken straight to hospital from the scene but has since been released.

Firefighters from Lancashire and Bolton remained on the scene for three houses. 

Investigations into the cause of the blaze is still ongoing, with firefighters and police officers still at the scene. 

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Services said: “On November 5 at 22:43, four fire engines from Ramsbottom, Bolton Central, Farnworth and Rawtenstall attended an incident on Lower Meadow, Bolton.

(Image: Ady Taylor) “The fire involved the ground floor of a domestic property. One casualty was rescued by fire service personnel.”

Speaking to The Bolton News, Station Manager at Bolton North/ Horwich Fire Station, Ady Taylor said: "Firefighters from Bolton attended the scene as we were able to get there quicker. "We were joined by teams from Ramsbottom, Bolton Central, Farnworth and Rawtenstall who were on stand by because of it being Bonfire Night.

"We were on scene from 22.43pm until 1.30am tackling the blaze. Police investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the fire.

"The 60-year-old woman was taken to hospital but she has since been released."

The fire ripped through the property causing huge damage throughout.

North West Ambulance Service and Lancashire Police have been contacted for comment.
