A new sports bar is set to open in Farnworth this weekend as the owners aim to 'bring a bit of life back to the town'.

The sports bar is an extension to the Hideout Cafe, and Sports Arena on Whoolden Street, and will open this evening, November 8.

An old warehouse has been transformed to create the cafe, which opened in June this year.

Now, it is adding further strings to its bow, including a sports hall which is in development, as well as the sports bar.

The bar will feature four pool tables, two dartboards, live sport, a PS5 zone, punch machines and a bar with draught beer and spirits on offer, as well as a new cafe menu.

"The bar will have four pool tables, two darts boards and a gaming area.

"We are also trying to do a bit of a sports hall, putting on events like boxing, doing amateur events and bring some entertainment to Farnworth, taking a disused, derelict warehouse and turning it into a state of the art arena, bar and cafe."

The venue has also held boxing events and is looking to hold more in future.

Phil added: "There is nothing like this in the North West. We have brought stars here, we had the Olympic boxer, Cindy Ngamba, she has been down and is behind us, she was down for the Halliwell Boxing event, we had a show here and have got another coming up in December.

"We have had the Furys down, John and Tommy, both were down here.

"Still got work to do but that will be in the summer next year when the weather is better."

Also in the offing at Hideout are football pitches and plans to provide education for disadvantaged children in the future.
