Two brothers have embarked on a powerful charity walk to raise money for two veteran charities, one of which is based in Bolton.

Conor Sadler and his brother Ryan pledged to cover over 180 kilometres, trekking from Milton Keynes to the historic shores of Normandy to raise awareness and funding for Scotty’s Little Soldiers and the Darren Deady Foundation.

The two, who are originally from Milton Keynes, are carrying Remembrance flags for the entirety of the journey, to commemorate those who have lost their lives whilst serving in the Armed Forces.

The Darren Deady Foundation is based in Bolton and was founded to honour Kingsman Darren Deady, from Westhoughton, who died from injuries sustained whilst serving as part of the Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj in Afghanistan during 2010.

The foundation offers our veterans support such as mental health support, debt support, employment support and is currently working to convert Washacre Centre into a community space that can also be used to accommodate veterans in Westhoughton.

They offer long term support for bereaved military children such as emotional support and development opportunities. The charity has pledged to support over 1,000 bereaved children by 2030.

"I'm extremely grateful to them both for what they are doing and that Conor chose the Darren Deady Foundation as one of his choices when he decided he wanted to raise money to help veteran charities.

“Their feet are covered in blisters, bless them, but they’ve made an amazing job of it. They only have 17 miles left to go now. We can’t wait to congratulate them on their fantastic achievements."
