A UK network provider has issued an apology to customers in Westhoughton after residents complained of losing internet service.
Issues with BT Openreach, the internet service provider for the area, have been reported by residents on multiple occasions since last week.
Repairs are now being carried out by engineers.
Speaking to The Bolton News, a spokesperson for BT Openreach said: “We’re very sorry for the loss of service some customers in Westhoughton are experiencing.
“This is due to a road traffic accident which caused extensive damage to part of our network.

“Engineers made the area safe when permitted to do so and, with traffic management in place, have made good progress with repairs but work is still ongoing.
“Due to the amount of damage the power supply had to be disconnected so our engineers could work safely.
“We’ve now requested a reconnection of the power supply after which our engineers will work to reconnect each individual customer as quickly as possible.”
The company announced a “huge full fibre broadband upgrade plan” for 19,000 residents living in Farnworth in June earlier this year.
Openreach says that more than 52,000 homes and businesses in the Bolton area already have access to the latest broadband technology.
