A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that police "detained a wanted male".
Police regularly put out wanted appeals to help them find suspects or other people who are wanted on recall to prison, or in some cases for missing court appearances.
But the force urges anyone who sees a wanted person not to approach them and instead to contact police as soon as it is safe to do so.
