A renowned motor vehicle competition is revving up to take place in Bolton this month in an event organisers hope will inspire new generations of youngsters.
The Motor Vehicles Finals will be hosted by Bolton College at its STEM centre and aims to give talented youngsters from across the country the chance to compete.
The finals are part of the wider WorldSkills UK National Competition which will include other host colleges from around Greater Manchester and a range of categories.
Bolton College principal Bill Webster said: “We are thrilled to host the WorldSkills UK motor vehicle competition at Bolton College, a proud member of the Greater Manchester Colleges Group.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity to support and celebrate the incredible talents of young people from across the country, giving them a platform to showcase their skills.
“Hosting this event allows us to be part of a global effort to inspire young people, whatever their background, to pursue high-quality apprenticeships and technical education.”
WorldSkills UK is itself part of the wider WorldSkills network which has 80 member countries around the world and works to raise youngsters skill levels with competitions like these.
Skills range across 40 areas from 3D Digital game art to welding, with Bolton College set to exclusively host the motor vehicle finals/
The finals conclude regional competitions held nationwide, where over 400 talented apprentices and students earned their place.
The Deane Road college will be hosting a welcome reception on Tuesday November 19 at the University of Bolton’s National Centre for Motorsport Engineering.

This reception will bring together competitors, organisers and the college’s partners from business and education.
This will also involve Bolton College’s event, hospitality and catering students, who will provide food for the reception and build up real world experience in event management.
The finals themselves will then start on Wednesday November 20 and continue on into Thursday November 21, with the college welcoming nearly 20 finalists from around the UK.
The week will culminate in a grand celebration ceremony at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Friday November 22 where winners and other medallists will be honoured.
