Police have seized two cars from drivers who are alleged to have had no licences or insurance.

Last night, Thursday, October 31, police said they seized a red Ford Mondeo and a blue Peugeot.

Officers say both vehicles were being driven by people who had no driving license and therefore no insurance.

Speaking about the Peugeot, a spokesperson for Bolton GMP said: "Officers have been on patrol in Halliwell and stopped to speak to the driver of this vehicle.

"The vehicle was seized under S165a of the Road Traffic Act . The driver has been reported for the offences."

Later the same night, police posted about the Ford, saying: "Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team have seized this car from Deepdale Road in Breightmet.

"Officers stopped the car and found the driver to have no licence and as such, no insurance. He has been summonsed to court for both these offences."

Those looking to reclaim their vehicle after it has been seized have 14 days to prove satisfactory ownership and to provide legitimate insurance at a police station, or their vehicle will be disposed of, according to GMP.

Vehicles can be scrapped or sold at auction.

When vehicles are sold at auction, drivers may be entitled to claim the proceeds of the sale if they can prove legitimate and satisfactory ownership within 12 months.
