A teenage boy has been attacked by a dog in a Bolton town centre park, leaving him having to be operated on.
Abdul Waheed, 14, who lives near Queens Park in Bolton, where he was attacked, was bitten and dragged to the floor by a terrier-like looking dog.
The attack on Monday, October 28, caused there to be “blood everywhere” and Abdul remains in hospital with his injuries.
Abdul sustained a "deep wound" in his right arm which caused profuse bleeding.
Abdul’s dad, Nadeem Akhtar, said: “He was with three or four of his mates when a big dog came over and grabbed hold of him.
“It was awful, my son was shaking with fear because he had to fight with the dog.”
Mr Akhtar reported that the owner of the dog wrestled it away from his son before bringing it under control.
Abdul was then taken to hospital, where doctors have estimated he will have to remain for the rest of the week.
Mr Akhtar added: “A lot of kids play in that park, so I’m worried it could happen again.
“I don’t want other people’s kids to be shaking and crying after being attacked.”
Mr Akhtar reported he was horrified when he found out about what happened and is still anxious about his son’s injuries.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “There is an active investigation ongoing and work is being undertaken to locate the dog and its owner/s.
“The incident happened at 3.50pm on Monday, October 28 in Bolton.
“We attended the hospital and took a statement from the victim the same day the incident took place and an officer has been assigned the case and is working through it.”
