Part of a busy Bolton road was cordoned off this afternoon after a crash involving a bus and a car.

Emergency services were called Chorley Old Road, just outside the town centre at around 3pm.

One person was taken to hospital following the crash.

A cordon was put in place with police and ambulance on the scene.

The road was shut from close to Morrisons supermarket to Marsh Fold Lane.

A spokesperson for Northwest Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.56pm after reports of a collision between a car and a bus.

"One ambulance was sent to the scene and a person on board the bus has been taken to hospital."

The road was reopened just after 4pm after the vehicles had been recovered.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
