Two people were arrested after around 200 people gathered for an illegal rave at a historic castle overnight.
People across Horwich and Blackrod reported being kept awake into the early hours of Sunday by loud music and lights coming from Liverpool Castle at Rivington.
Police have confirmed they arrived on the scene in the early hours and made two arrests.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Rivington Lane, Rivington, at 1.18am today, October 27, following multiple calls about an illegal rave.
“Our officers attended and found around 200 people present, as well as loud music, lights, lasers and drones.
“Although the majority of people dispersed when our officers arrived, we dispersed those who remained from the area.
“Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug driving and remain in custody at this time.
“They are a 21-year-old man from Burnley and a 34-year-old man from Stockport.”
The rave had been fully dispersed by later on Sunday morning and members of the Horwich Clean Up Bridge arrived to help clear up rubbish that had been left behind.
Horwich Clean Up Bridge member Ray Scholes said his wife had been kept awake into the early hours of Sunday by the music.
He cleared up around a bag full of rubbish after arriving at Liverpool Castle and was soon joined by more group members.
Ian Rotherham said: “The guys look like they’ve done a good job of clearing it up.
“I went to bed at about 10.30pm and I could hear it then, I’d have thought it would be too cold and wet for them!
“I think it was about 1am, 1.30am when I eventually went to sleep, and I could still hear it then.”
He said the group had collected several bags of rubbish that had been left over by ravers.

Liverpool Castle was built in 1912 as a replica of the original that had stood from the early 13th century to the early 18th century.
It was designed to look like the ruins of the original castle, with work being completed in 1925.
The walls were damaged and a spiral staircase inside the replica castle collapsed in the 1980s but the building is still accessible to the public at all times of day.
Like elsewhere in Rivington, it is a popular destination for walkers and weekend visitors for Horwich and Blackrod as well as Chorley and Bolton.
