A man and a woman have been arrested after a morning police raid earlier this week.

The pair were arrested after officers raided a house in Brooklands Avenue, Atherton, on the morning of Friday, October 25.

Police say this is part of a wider operation aimed at cracking down on drug crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “A female adult was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and is currently in custody in Wigan, awaiting an interview.

“Additionally, a male adult located near the address was arrested after a stop and search under the Misuse of Drugs Act revealed he was in possession of cannabis.

“He was also found to be wanted for other criminal matters.

“This operation is part of increased police activity in the area following reports of drug-related incidents and anti-social behaviour.

“The team has been using both covert and overt tactics, resulting in the recent recovery of stolen vehicles, identification and seizure of uninsured vehicles, successful drug-related stop and searches, and the arrest of wanted individuals.
