A HIGHWAY worker putting cones out on the M6 suffered serious facial injuries in a hit-and-run.
The man was part of a traffic management crew implementing a closure of lanes one and two on the motorway at around 9.30pm on Friday, October 18 when the incident happened.
As he was closing the lanes, a white vehicle collided with one of the cones being placed onto the northbound carriageway, which subsequently hit him.
The man suffered serious facial injuries as a result of the incident.
The driver of the white vehicle, believed to be a 2012 Mercedes, failed to stop at the scene.
The collision happened between junction 18 and 19, around 1km before Knutsford Services.
PC Alex Whitehurst said: “As part of our ongoing investigation, we would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident.
“We are also urging anyone who was driving along this stretch of motorway at around this time to check their dashcam footage for anything which may be relevant to our enquiries.
“You can report information to us via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us or call 101, quoting IML-1943184.”
