A mystery man from Lancashire has won £1m in the Euromillions lottery.

The man, known as "Mr R", scooped the prize in the lottery's UK Millionaire Maker draw on Friday, September 13.

The winner’s first purchase was a new set of golf clubs, and he plans to use some of his winnings on a holiday to the Caribbean.

He has become one of more than 8m players that win each week on The National Lottery’s range of games.

Interactive winners have the opportunity to release their name, remain anonymous or like this winner, release some details through partial publicity.

Senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, Andy Carter, said: “Wow, incredible news for Mr. R, who has become a millionaire overnight.

"He can now relax on a sunny holiday in the Caribbean. Huge congratulations!”

Players can buy and check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk.

Players can also buy and check tickets in retail. Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize.
