A Little Hulton restaurant has “curried” favour with our readers who have nominated it for The Bolton News' Best Curry House Top Ten. Now it is open to the public to vote for their favourite to find Bolton's Best Curry House.

Every day we will be featuring a restaurant on the shortlist - and urging readers to vote for their favourite.

Spice & Spirits stood out for its fresh Mumbai street food and authentic curries from across India.

All served while you watch sports.

It has been in business in Little Hulton over six years.

And has won accolades including the Nation’s Asian Food Award 2023 and the North West England Restaurant of the Year.

Bhavesh Patel, 39, its owner, said it is the only Indian sports bar in Greater Manchester.

He said: “There are no other places like it in the area.

“We have all the matches playing, boxing, football, everything.

“And people can enjoy a curry as they watch.

“We make an effort to serve dishes from all over India, especially the North and Gujarat.

“Some that are very special to us, like Dhaniya Chicken and Lamb Tariwala, aren’t found anywhere else in the UK.

“We also offer an extensive vegetarian menu, which could be the biggest in Greater Manchester.

“Opening a sports bar has been my dream.

“I love sports, especially cricket.

“When I worked as a manager in a restaurant, I wanted to try my hand at owning my own.

“This is the second branch I’ve openedl.”

Reshan Nagarkoti, 25, the restaurant’s manager, said: “It’s great to get on the Top Ten, after all the effort and support from our staff.

“We try to gather flavours from all over India.

“There are a lot. And understand what our British and Asian customers like, so we can adapt to it.

“The important thing is that we keep the food and service at a high standard. Everyone is working very hard.”

And Spice & Spirits is coming to Bolton’s Nelson Square.

Bhavesh said: “I’m from Bolton and wanted to open a business in our hometown.

“The town centre only has a few Indian restaurants.

“And not a lot of nice ones.

“Having more business there would be better for everyone, community-wise.

“Our restaurant will have shisha and outdoor seating.

“And we’ll be offering an Indian brunch with unlimited drinks there and in our Little Hulton branch.”

Spice & Spirits also does community work in Bolton and across Greater Manchester.

Bhavesh said: “Every month we give 100 boxes of food to House of Raja’s and also donate to Don’t Walk Past Manchester.”
