A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman earlier this month.
The 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead soon after police were called to reports of a concern for welfare on Oxford Road, Atherton at around 11.40am on Wednesday October 9.
Officers say that Nadeem Muhammed Begum, 52, has now been charged with murder and that the woman’s next of kin have been informed.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 11.40am on Wednesday October 9 2024, we responded to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman at an address on Oxford Road, Atherton.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead shortly after.
“The death was referred for a Home Office post-mortem and the results upgraded the case to suspicious death investigation.

Police say Begum, of Oxford Road, Atherton, has now been remanded into custody and is expected to appear before Bolton Crown Court on November 14.
