A darts themed sports bar is set to open in the centre of Bolton.

A planning application has been lodged for Rogue’s on Deansgate, which promises a centre for amateur leagues, competitions, darting events and professional exhibitions.

The application is for vacant premises most recently used for the Burger Home takeaway and prior to that a fish and chip shop.

It has been lodged by Bolton based Rogue Darts Ltd for the borough’s "first darts specific venue and bar".

If the change of use application is successful, Rogue’s will also have an on site darts shop where arrows enthusiasts can try before they buy.

A statement on the Rogue Darts Facebook page, said: “The hard work continues as we keep moving closer to being able to open our doors.

“The final plans have been signed off and an architect is currently drawing them up to submit.

"These are extremely exciting times for us and we can’t wait to get renovating our premises to see our vision come to life.

“We’re right in the heart of the town centre, offering something new and fresh to the darts and entertainment scene in Bolton and the North West.

"We are absolutely overwhelmed with the positive reaction and support we’ve had so far and we cannot wait to share more details and updates.”

The planning application, lodged with the council in the past week, requests a change of use from takeaway and restaurant to sports bar.

The application also includes rear alterations to form a smoking shelter.

Darts enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years with more and more people taking up the sport.

Before this year’s PDC final in January around five million Brits said they played the sport now and again.

New stars like teenager Luke Littler have also boosted the sports appeal among younger people.
