Police have made a direct appeal to parents — asking them whether they know where their children are and what they are up to after increasing reports of fireworks being left off by youngsters.
Officers are warning the illegal use of fireworks could lead to offenders being locked up for six months.
A spokesman for GMP Bolton said: "Do you know where your children are? Do you know what they are doing?

"We are seeing increasing reports across Bolton of the misuse of fireworks. Please speak with your children and educate them around personal safety and the law in relation to fireworks.
"Fireworks are explosives and have potential to cause serious injury to persons and damage to property when not used correctly and lawfully.
"Fireworks and sparklers must not be used or set off in public places. Illegal use could result in a fine or even arrest and imprisonment of up to six months."
The law states that under-18s cannot buy fireworks, and it’s against the law for anyone to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except on certain occasions.
Earlier this year residents in Farnworth complained about fireworks being setting in the early hours and more recently residents in Halliwell were scared after fireworks were lit and thrown in the street.
