An investigation is underway after a teenage girl was reportedly sexually assaulted on her way into the town centre.

The girl was on her way along Sixth Avenue heading towards Bolton town centre at around 6pm on Thursday, July 25 when the reported incident happened.

Police officers have now released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with their investigation.

PC Paul Brown-Hampson from Greater Manchester Police’s Bolton district said; “Since the report was made during the summer we have conducted a number of lines of enquiry to try and locate the person responsible and are now in a position to appeal to the local public to help us further.

“We understand incidents of this nature can cause concern within the community but would like to provide reassurance that we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves.

“Officers remain on patrol in key areas to provide a visible presence to anyone who may feel unsafe and would encourage you to speak to us in person if you need to.”
