One of Bolton’s biggest development projects in recent years is “coming to life” with the first of its new homes set to be delivered.
The Farnworth Green project aims to build nearly 100 new homes, a mixture of townhouses and flats for rent, at the old precinct.
Developers Capital&Centric have now released new images showing how the site, which will include a public square and pavilion for outdoor and live events, is shaping up.
Capital&Centric joint managing director Tom Wilmot said: “You can really see the Farnworth Green community coming to life.
“It’s a big moment for us as it’s the first of our Neighbourhood style homes to be delivered.
“Neighbourhood is pioneering a new model for town centre living, rebooting tired retail areas into new liveable, sustainable communities.
He added: “Alongside the homes, we’ve focused on creating spaces to bring the community together.
“Bars, cafes and shops will bring a buzz throughout the day and into the evening and the new public square and lush gardens will provide places to relax and hang out.”
The scheme has been in the works for several years now, and will include 85 one and two bedroom flats as well as 12 family homes, with a mixture of two and three bedrooms.
Visiting the site in March this year Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said that the completed scheme would be just months away.
The developers say the architecture at Farnworth Green is similar to their “Kampus” garden neighbourhood in Manchester city centre, under its “Neighbourhood” brand.
The scheme will include Bolton’s first zero emission homes, with Capital&Centric say will help save on people’s energy costs.
The new images show how the outdoor space and pavilion is shaping up, which the developers say will host art and live music events as well as makers market events.
The scheme will also include new routes to connect Brackley Street and King Street, aimed at making it easier to get around Farnworth town centre by bicycle or on foot.

There are also plans for 20,000 square feet of space for businesses including a mix of cafés, bars, bakeries and restaurants as well as florists and hairdressers.
Capital&Centric says that it now focused on getting new shop operators to set up in the town and is open for expressions of interest for businesses.
They will be able move into ground floor units around the public square in spaced between 500 and 5,000 square feet.
