A warning has gone out about potential flooding over the course of today, Wednesday.
The Environment Agency says that flooding could hit the area around Lees Bridge watercourse in Astley Bridge during the afternoon of Wednesday October 16.
The flooding could affect a range of areas from 1pm onwards caused by high river levels.
An Environment Agency statement said: “Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Lees Bridge (unnamed) watercourse, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around Old Road, Blackburn Road, Seymour Road, Greenwood Vale and Viola Street in Sharples.
“We are closely monitoring the situation.”
The agency says that affected areas could be on and around Viola Street, Blackburn Road, Greenwood Vale, Old Road, Seymour Road, Berkeley Road and Moss Bank Way.

The Environment Agency sends out regular flood warnings for affected when whether forecasts expect flooding in areas with rivers or areas hit by heavy rain that will cause rivers to flash flood.
It also warns about flooding in areas hit by high tides and surges coupled with strong winds at sea
The Environment Agency says it will update its message by 10am on the morning of Thursday October 17 or as the situation changes.
