Police found “numerous” bags of cannabis in a car in Halliwell after locals complained of drug dealing.

Officers had been on patrol near Halliwell Road last night (October 15) when they said they saw a number of men running off from a car on Boardman Street.

They searched the vehicle and found “numerous” snap bags of cannabis.

The car was seized for being used in crime.

The drugs were taken for forensic examination. And police are still identifying who the drugs belong to.

Bolton police have continued to patrol Halliwell Road because members of the public have complained about drug dealing in the area.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Following complaints from the community about drug dealing in the Halliwell Road area, officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team have been patrolling the area to target those involved in drug supply.

Last night, when officers turned onto Boardman Street, a number of men ran off from this car.

“A search of the car found numerous snap bags of cannabis. They have been seized for forensic examination and the car has been seized for being used in crime.

“Enquiries are on going to identify who the drugs belong to.”

Bolton police have continued to target drugs and antisocial behaviour.

Two weeks ago, they made a total of 30 arrests as part of Operation AVRO - a monthly Greater Manchester Police initiative which targets a range of crimes such as drug-dealing, traffic offences and anti-social behaviour.

More than £250k in stolen goods and 10 vehicles were seized.

They investigated drug supply and criminal damage as well as providing high-visibility patrols.
