Beautiful tributes have been paid to a young man 'who lit up every room' following his tragic death at the age of just 24.
Ellis Redfern from Farnworth died on October 11.
Emergency services attended a concern for welfare call on the M61 motorway, eastbound, near to Cleggs Lane, between Farnworth and Little Hulton at around 11pm.
Tragically he died from his injuries despite efforts of the emergency services - a GoFundMe page has been set up.
His mother, Gemma Redfern, said: “I would like to say thanks.
“I’ve been overwhelmed with the love and support towards Ellis during this time.
“I will love and miss him for the rest of my life and I hope people will take this opportunity to realise that life is short and you shouldn’t miss any opportunity to tell people you love them.”
Ellis attended Harper Green School.
Ellis’ friend, Mia Gaffney, said: “Ellis was the light of every single room that he walked in.
“He had the kindest heart and just loved to make people laugh and smile.
“He brightened every single day and he made every single situation better.”
A charity football event at St James' Playing Fields in Farnworth will take place from 2.30pm to 5.30pm on Saturday, October 19, to remember Ellis.
Ellis’ friend, Eddie Mukwa, will be playing, he said: “I’ve known Ellis since year three at school, he was full of laughter there wasn’t a day you would see him and he wasn’t smiling.
“He had a big cheesy grin, I'd go over to his house and play Xbox before we went to football training.
“Then we would walk to Harper Green to play footie, and get a scallop barm.
“He loved football, all he would think about was football.”
He said that Ellis would often reminisce about his younger days playing football and dream of his old teammates getting back together.
Saturday is according to Eddie “what Ellis would have wanted” with dozens of people who have played football with him attending.
