From its establishment Bolton town centre has seen many ups and downs and with time comes change.

For Bolton town centre this means going from bright and bustling to quiet and dismal.

Thankfully with the unveiling of a £250m renovation project Bolton town centre should return to its former glory.

I interviewed local shop owners to see what they had to say.

One shop owner said,” Rates have increased so much that big businesses like Debenhams are leaving the town center. The renovation plans seem good but much more is needed to revive the town center”.

Others said they’re tired of the quiet town center and the renovations couldn’t come soon enough.

Plans include a 110-bedroom hotel, 150 homes, 10,500m² of office space, and a mixed-use retail, leisure, dining and events space.

The renovation plans sound promising but are they truly going to revive the town center or is it too good to be true?
