An elderly woman has died in "non-suspicious" circumstances, police have said.

Officers were called to Kirklees Street in Tottington yesterday morning, Friday with residents reporting seeing emergency services in attendance.

Today, Saturday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has said an elderly woman has died and her death is not believed to be suspicious. 

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers attended Kirklees Street yesterday (Friday).

"It looks to be a non-suspicious death." 

The spokesperson added that the deceased person was an elderly woman. 

One eyewitness described seeing "police, CSI and possibly a CID car" in the area yesterday afternoon, Friday. 

She also saw a ladder being put up to the front window of a house. 

A resident added that they saw "police and an ambulance". She said they arrived in the morning and left in the late afternoon.
