More than 200 beers, wines and spirits will be available at a festival this weekend in Bolton.

The 30th Bolton Beer Festival in Middlebrook’s Toughsheet Stadium raises funds for Bolton Lads’ and Girls’ Club.

The event started on Thursday, October 10, and runs through till Saturday, October 12, with more than 8,000 drinkers expected to attend.

Kelly McFadden from the club said: “We aim to raise £85,000 from this event.

“That money will go towards supporting the children and families in our town.

“So without the funding from an event like this, our work wouldn’t be possible.”

Some of the beers on tap include Beartown Brewery Kodiak, Colbier Brewery Chorus, and local favourite, Bank Top’s Harlequin.

Although plenty of tap enthusiasts will be heading along to the stadium’s Premier Suite, there will be other drinks available for any beer avoiders.

“I think I might be having a prosecco later on,” Kelly admitted.

“We’ve got loads of ciders, gins and other spirits as well, anything you can possibly think of.

“We started organising it in April, so it’s taken six months to get all this together.”

General admission is £10 although beer tokens have to be purchased on the night.

From 6pm onwards on Saturday, the event will be brought to a close by former Inspiral Carpets member and DJ, Clint Boon.
