A karaoke competition is on the hunt for the UK’s next biggest pop star.

With 31 pubs in the North West taking part, including venues in Oldham, Heywood, and Manchester, singers are being urged to show off their talents for the chance to be crowned Proper Pub Idol.

The competition, run by Admiral Taverns, will give the winner £1,000 in cash and a recording day to create their very own single.

Runners-up will also be rewarded, with the second place winner receiving £500 and the third place winner getting £250.

Each participating pub is currently holding heats, where the top three singers will go through to the pub final.

The pub final, set to take place during the week commencing Monday, October 28, will see the top nine singers from that particular pub perform two songs each.

The winner and runner-up will then progress to the regional final the following week, where they will again perform twice.

The regional winner will bag a £100 bar tab for their home pub.

The national final will take place on Saturday, November 17, at The Broadway in Leeds, where three independent judges will decide the fate of the finalists.

The competition is open now, and each week’s winners will receive a bottle of prosecco.
