A care home manager who is "loved by all" has celebrated 20 years of service.

Leanne Batten-Smith, home manager at HC-One's Rose Court Care Home in Radcliffe, marked two decades of service on Sunday, September 29.

She started her career at the Water Street care home as a bank kitchen assistant, before becoming a care assistant.

Ms Batten-Smith then progressed to senior care assistant, with activities coordination as her second shared job.

She worked her way to become unit manager on the residential dementia and nursing community at Rose Court, which is called the Nightingale community.

She then took on the role of deputy home manager and then home manager when previous home manager Karen Davies retired on May 20, 2022.

In her first inspection as home manager from healthcare regulator, the Care Quality Commission, Rose Court received an overall rating of "good" including "outstanding" in the area of "well-led".

She still shows a "huge passion" for activities and often gets involved with the home’s wellbeing team to create an enhanced activities programme for residents to enjoy.

Rose Court held a celebration event with staff and residents, with a presentation to Ms Batten-Smith to present her long service award, with gifts, flowers from the home and area director, Anthony Byrne, along with a gift card and an additional day’s annual leave from HC-One as part of the recognition.

Ms Batten-Smith said: "I have loved every minute of my 20 years working here.

"Every day is different and supporting our older generation is an absolute honour that I am proud to be a part of each day.

"I work with the best team of people both within the home and within the wider organisation, Rose Court really is my second family."

Allison Porter, well-being coordinator at Rose Court, added: "Leanne is loved by all."
