More than 300 people, including dozens of suspected drug dealers have been arrested in a police operation so far this year.
Officers launched Operation Vulcan in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre earlier this year and say that since then they have managed to cut crime rates dramatically.
This has included suspected drug dealing and suspected thefts.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Our task force tackling crime in Piccadilly Gardens has seen more than 300 arrests, hundreds of weapons seized, and dozens of suspected drug dealers going through the courts in the last year.
“Crime is down with 20 per cent fewer thefts and half as many people reporting stalking and harassment since Operation Vulcan began in the area.
“Our problem-solving approach is world-renowned and has helped protect almost 100 vulnerable people from criminals.
“We’re continuing to work alongside partners and charities to change the area for the better so that it is safer for you to enjoy.”
