This week's pub is the self-professed "friendliest in town" with a good crowd of regulars and plenty of fun events.

The White Horse in Stitch-Mi-Lane, Harwood, is managed by Kelly Howarth, and owned by landlords William and Simon Yates.

Introduce yourself

My name is Kelly Howarth and I'm the manager here at The White Horse.

How are you finding it?

I've been managing here for the past 12 to 18 months, and I'm absolutely loving it. My bosses are absolutely amazing to work for and they've taught me so much.

They've put me on a pathway training programme so that one day I'll be able to take over a pub.

Looking around it seems everybody knows each other

Everyone who comes in for the first time, "newbies" as we call them, they aren't newbies for long.

It's great, we're not a cliquey pub, the ones that come always come back, we're old school and what a pub should be.

Do you do food?

Yeah, we've always done food here.

The most popular has got to be the burgers, the fish and chips is really popular too.

We get quite busy when the football is on as well and some of the lads just want a little buffet, so we do small plates as well.

The sizzlers and stuff from the grill also go down really well.

We serve food from 12pm till 8pm but if someone is late we're quite lenient.

Verdict on the food

I tested out the bacon and cheeseburger, with a fried egg, onion rings, and chips, with a pint of Cruzcampo, it came in at £17.37.

By no means the cheapest, around £7 more expensive than the equivalent you could get at Wetherspoons.

The atmosphere is also one of the friendliest I've seen in a pub so I'd argue it's worth the extra.

What's the draught line-up?

  • Cruzcampo

  • Guinness

  • Madri

  • Stella Artois

  • Inch's

  • Birra Moretti

  • Staropramen

  • Carling

  • Old Mout

  • Coors

What events do you have on?

We have a resident DJ karaoke every Friday, along with a meat raffle, where you get a ticket with every pint you buy on the night.

Wednesday night we do a quiz, which gets a good turnout.

Monday night, the pool team plays, Thursday nights are for darts.

And finally, on Saturday we try to get live music on.

Are you busy most of the time?

Yes, we are busy day and night, during the day we get a lot of roofers, and if it's rainy like it is today then they will just stay and drink in here all day.

Are you the friendliest put in town?

Oh for sure!

What do the regulars think?
