Boltonians have been hauled in front of the courts for everything from driving offences to assault recently.

Here, we round up five recent cases that took place in front of the magistrates.

Anthony Boyce, of Nasmyth Street, Horwich, was given a restraining order and a suspended sentence for 16 weeks’ imprisonment for stalking a woman in Bolton.

At a hearing at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 20, the 47-year-old was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Matthew Foster, of Broadwalk, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to assault by beating at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 20.

The 33-year-old was given an eight-week sentence of imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs.

Lisa Dodgin was found guilty in her absence of theft from a shop.

The 45-year-old, of Openshaw Place, Farnworth, did not show up to Bolton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 20, where guilt was proved in her absence for the theft of £72 of goods from Gee Tee’s Store in Westhoughton on March 11, 2023.

A warrant is now out for her arrest.

Rick Bagnall, of Astley Brook Close, Bolton, pleaded guilty to using a mobile phone while driving on Burtonwood Road in Warrington.

The 37-year-old was fined £282 and was disqualified from driving for six months at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 23, due to ‘repeat offending’.

Aaqib Bukhat, of Glenridge Close, Bolton, was fined £100 and given three points on his driving licence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 23.

The 24-year-old failed to give information relating to the identification of the driver of an Audi, who was alleged to be guilty of speeding at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Chester.
