Bolton’s 'perfect brunch' spot officially launched this week and as an enthusiast of sweet treats and all things pink, I was excited to take a first look at the new venue.
Despite opening just over a week ago, House of Chai was already bursting with guests. The tea bar and grill, which is situated on 131 Bradshawgate is already proving to be popular – and it’s not hard to see why.
The venue’s lavish interior provides an exceptional atmosphere and holds the perfect lighting for that picture-perfect brunch photo op, as showcased on the venue’s social media pages.
The opening comes as the manager and owner, Abdullah Sajid, of the established House of Chai in Manchester decided to expand the business following its success in the city.
He said: “We decided to come to Bolton as we knew the market here was really vibrant, people tend to travel to Manchester to eat out and we wanted to change that.
“We have a venue in Manchester and noticed a lot of people visiting were from Bolton, Blackburn and Preston so we wanted to expand to these areas.
“We cater for everyone, but a lot of our customers are young mothers and 78 per cent of our customers are women, so we made sure the venue really adheres to that.”
Abdullah took over the business last year and cites the venue’s in-house bakers and high-quality baked goods as the reason for House of Chaii’s popularity.
He added: “We make the goods in-house, so everything is fresh.
“Our chefs are expertly trained, one of them has worked in a Michelin star restaurant for fifteen years, so we really ensure that the food quality is high end.”
House of Chaii offers menus for breakfast, which is served all day, brunch from 1pm to 5pm, an evening menu and even a specialist menu for an array of “sweet treats”.
The breakfast menu offers customers a selection of “eggs from the world” dishes, from eggs Florentine, eggs benedict, Turkish eggs and the North African tomato-based dish, Shakshouka – which Abdullah notes has proven a popular choice with visitors.
House of Chaii’s brunch menu offers classic light-lunch options, all of which are halal, including smoked salmon, grilled lamb cutlets, spicy fish and chips as well as wagyu beef burger.
For evening options, guests are treated to an assortment of halal burgers, customisable mac and cheese as well as classic-style dishes such as parmesan chicken, grilled lamb cutlets and chicken linguini in a creamy sauce.
It was the sweet treats menu that caught my eye. I was spoilt for choice by an array of American pancakes, waffles, baklava, French toast, in-house baked cheesecake and mascarpone.
All options are also available for delivery.
I ended up going for the French toast, which was exceptionally pleasing to the eye (and stomach!).
It’s not hard to see why House of Chaii has proved so popular and according to Abdullah, shows no signs of stopping.
He added: “Word has got around about us and we already have so many guests that we are having to expand as we are meeting full demand.
“We currently have capacity for 65 people and are hoping to expand into the back and also get a pavement licence.
“We are so excited to move here and can’t wait to serve the people of Bolton.”
The restaurant, located at 131 Bradshawgate Street is officially open to the public from 10.30am to 5.00pm.
Seats can be reserved on House of Chaii’s website.
