A quarter of Brits said they would 'happily eat a roast dinner every day'.
Greene King’s Pub & Carvery has launched a competition to find 'the nation's biggest carvery lover', with a prize of 52 carveries in 2025 and a £2,025 cash reward.
The competition is open to anyone and will run from Monday, September 16 to Monday, October 20.
To participate, carvery enthusiasts need to visit the Greene King's Pub & Carvery website and enter their details for a chance to win.
The search comes as research reveals that more than half (57 per cent) of the nation say that carvery is their favourite meal.
The same study found that a quarter of Brits would 'happily eat a roast dinner every day of the week'.
Roast potatoes were found to be the most popular variety of potato to include in a roast dinner, with almost three-quarters (72 per cent) of UK respondents choosing this classic.
Brits named Brussels sprout as their second favourite vegetable, after roast potatoes.
Beef was named as the nation’s preferred meat (29 per cent), closely followed by chicken (21 per cent), lamb (16 per cent) and pork (7 per cent).
Gavin O’Neill, business unit director for food pubs at Greene King, which has pubs and restaurants in Bolton said: "With the darker nights and seasonal changes upon us, there’s no better hearty, warming meal than a full roast carvery, so why not make it even better value for money at only £7.
"Plus, with free carvery for a year, and a £2,025 cash prize up for grabs for Britain’s ultimate carvery fan, this is a great opportunity for customers to pick up the title of Carvery King or Queen, along with a great prize at the same time."
When it comes to sauces, gravy is the most popular choice, with 62 per cent of Brits choosing this to accompany their roast dinner.
Mint sauce (22 per cent), horseradish (16 per cent), apple sauce (15 per cent) and cranberry sauce (13 per cent) complete the top five.
The research also found that 32 per cent of Brits are willing to pay between £11 and £15 for a good roast dinner/carvery when eating out.
Twenty-nine per cent would pay between £16 and £20, while 14 per cent would pay between £21 and £25.
Greene King’s Pub & Carvery is reducing the price of its carvery to £7 for five weeks, ending on October 20.
