A huge search took place in Harwood last night after a young boy went missing.

Police were alerted that a child could not be located at around 5pm.

Local residents joined the search party in the Tottington Road area with the boy located an hour or so later.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "There was a search and the missing young lad was found and returned home safe and sound just after 7pm."

Harwood residents also shared messages on social media in a bid to help find him.

Residents reported a huge police presence in Harwood during the search.
