A coffee shop is set to close this weekend after three years - with owners announcing new plans for the business.

Common and Coffee on Chorley Old Road will close on Saturday, September 28.

The café shares the space with Common Barber, which opened in 2019.

Owner Andy Partington will not leave the premises, however, and is looking to turn the coffee shop into a deli with friend Jonny Eckersley.

The barber will be open for business as usual.

"Something very exciting is happening with the shop, we are rebranding it into more of a deli and sandwich shop.

"I just want to thank everyone for supporting and backing us in the three years since we have been open.

"Especially when we opened around Covid, the fact we are still here now and have grown is a testament to that."

He added: "It has gone from strength to strength, we had the barbers first and then came back from Covid ready to kick on again.

"The shop has revolved around speciality coffee, we already work with local producers such as Smithills Farm, and we just want to keep that same vibe.

"It is going to be a cool space with a local neighbourhood feel and our food will be good value for money."

"Now we are looking to change it and bring the business and the area to the next level.

"We are waving goodbye to one face of the business and moving onto something scary and daunting, but we are really excited."
