There was a time when Bolton Corporation trams were a familiar sight around the area.
But even in the 1920s, when this photo was taken, a single-decker tram was a rarity with only three operating in the town. This particular tram was on the route from Darcy Lever into the town centre.
Is that a conductor in the cape by the tram? Is he going to have a word with the young boys at the side of the road? Trams operated on this particular route until 1928 when buses took over.
