A Bolton care home company is at the centre of an investigation by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for an incident in which a woman sustained a serious injury.
The Bolton News understands it was the result of the resident pulling a piece of the furniture on top of themselves at The Withins Residential Home on Withins Lane.
The director of the care home company, Samuel Shahbazi, said it acted appropriately by attaching the piece of furniture and any other pieces of furniture which were a risk to the walls. However it is at the centre of an investigation by the CQC after the woman sustained a serious injury.
She remains as one of the residents of The Withins Residential Home.
Mr Shahbazi said: "She remains in our care and she is safe and well."
After the incident there was a third inspection at the residential home in three years. It received a rating of requires improvement for issues including administration and some staffing shortages.
The CQC said the residents were positive about the residential home in spite of the rating of requires improvement with one of them saying: "They are tremendous. Nothing is too much trouble".
Mr Shahbazi said: "The inspection itself I feel poorly reflects the reality of our home.
"We are a family-run care home providing very extremely high staffing levels to meet the needs of our community of residents.
"We offer more activities to our residents than most other care homes and our residents enjoy continuity of care from a compassionate team with low staff turnover and no agency staff."
Mr Shahbazi said: "I understand the need for regulation but the inspection process is inconsistent.
"We have had three inspections in three years and all three have been carried out differently by different inspectors.
"Each time we rectify and adjust the way we plan people’s care in an attempt to appease CQC, but each time they ‘find’ things they scrutinise us over."
The CQC said it cannot comment on the investigation.
