Police have launched an investigation after a toddler suffered injuries after being assaulted at Moss Bank Park.
The mother of the child, who was present, was also left with injuries after the attack, which happened at around 2.30pm on Monday, September 16.
The suspected attacker is a student from Birtenshaw School in Bromley Cross and was accompanied by an adult at the time.
Both parties were left with non-life-threatening injuries because of the altercation.
The adult victim has since made a complaint to Birtenshaw School to highlight the “inadequate risk assessments” of the pupil in question, “ineffective leadership management” and “the inadequate training of staff to intervene in the unprovoked assault of a child".
The victim’s complaint believes the incident as a “deliberate and unprovoked attack” that highlights a clear “lack of care for public safety” at the school and that their “safeguarding measures need re-evaluating”.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm an investigation into an assault on Moss Lane, Bolton in the afternoon of Monday, September 16 is ongoing.”
No arrests have been made.
A spokesperson from Birtenshaw School declined to comment when contacted about the incident.
Information on the school’s website states: “To respond to the changing needs of disabled people through dedication to continuous improvement, supporting more people and becoming judged in all areas as outstanding.”
