An appeal has gone out to help police trace the family of a man who died in Atherton earlier this month.

This comes after Steven Wilson-Fawcett died at Loveless House on Brooklands Avenue in Atherton on Saturday September 14.

Officers say they do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances behind Mr Wilson-Fawcett’s death but have appealed to the public to come forward.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Do you know the next of kin of a man from Atherton?

“Steven Wilson-Fawcett, 61, passed away at Loveless House, Brooklands Avenue on 14/09/2024.

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances.”

Police often put out appeals like these to help them trace the relatives of people who have died around the region before establishing a cause of death.

In UK law, there is no legal definition of “next of kin”, but it is usually understood to be the closest relative, whether a partner, parent, child or sibling.

Once the police have the details that they need, they will be passed along to the Coroner’s Office to allow a full cause of death to be established.

Anyone with any information can call the Coroner’s Office on 0161 856 3485.
