Temperatures in Bolton are set to rise this week following a period of wetter, chillier weather.
According to the Met Office, temperatures could rise as high as 22°C this week – bucking the trend of cooler weather experienced last week.
The forecast has led many across the country to speculate that Britain could be set for an ‘Indian summer’.

An ‘Indian summer’ is a period of unseasonably warm weather that occurs in autumn.
Some parts of the country, such as London, could reach as high as 27°C as the week progresses – hotter than is forecast in Portugal’s Algarve region.
In Bolton, temperatures are currently forecast to reach highs of 20°C on Tuesday, September 17, with highs of 19°C forecast through to Saturday, before dipping slightly to 17°C on Sunday.
While these are the ‘most likely’ high temperatures, the weather agency says the mercury could reach as high as 22°C on Saturday, September 21 – the day before the Autumn equinox.

According to the Met Office, a cold front clearing the south on Monday will allow high pressure to build over the country, clearing cloud and fog and allowing for fine, dry weather with autumnal sunshine.
By Tuesday, high pressure will bring dry and sunny weather, with some clouds and breezes in the north of Scotland.
Going into Wednesday, some cloud, mist and fog patches will be present in the morning, but this will clear for another bright and warm day.
On Thursday, the weather will remain warm with sunny spells and some cloud drifting into the east.
The week will end on Friday with some cloud and a risk of showers.
