Too Good To Go Bags has become very popular recently, and restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, pubs, and more are trying to save some waste at a discounted price.

Buying food that’s coming up to its sell-by date, bargain hunters can often grab a bag full of items for a quarter of the price.

While Too Good To Go users don’t get to choose what you get in a bag, it does add a bit of fun to it, leaving you excited about what you’re left with.

It can be a good mix. People often praise Greggs for handing out five bags of sausage rolls, cakes, and sandwiches, while supermarket Aldi could leave you with 20 blocks of cheese.

Away from the Too Good To Go’s of bakeries and supermarkets, there are quite a few popular chain restaurants offering items at a cheaper price, including Pizza Express.

As someone who loves Italian cuisine, including pizza, the restaurant is often my go-to when I fancy a slice of cheesy bread.

That’s why when I saw Pizza Express pop up on my Too Good To Go, I knew I needed to try it out and see what it offered.

I received a Pizza Express Too Good To Go, but it left me hungry.

The bag cost £4.95, with an estimated value of £14.85 and a low rating of 2.9 out of five from 27 reviews.

With a low rating, I was slightly concerned, but on reading ‘what you could get’ I had slightly higher hopes.

Sharing what could be in the bag, the options include either “one main course or three starters/desserts. This may include scrumptious treats live Dough Balls, Calamari, Chocolate Fudge or even a Lasagne”.

With hopes high and my stomach rumbling, I headed out to pick up my local Pizza Express, but I was quickly left disappointed.

Aware that I may have to wait a few minutes as they cook the food fresh, I stood by as chefs in the open kitchen cooked and packed up my Too Good To Go bag.

Five minutes later, I was walking out of the restaurant with my bag in hand, curious as to what I would be left with.

Not one to wait. As soon as I got in the car, I opened the boxes with dreams of lasagne, calamari, and chocolate fudge, but my dreams were quickly shattered.

Opening box one, I was quite happy to discover a garlic bread with mozzarella ready to be enjoyed.

Moving to box two, I was surprised to find another piece of garlic bread with mozzarella.

Expecting box three to continue the pattern, I was happier to discover a unique item, with what I can only describe as warm bread and butter, something that also is not on the Pizza Express menu.

Nevertheless, I moved to the third box praying it was finally something other than bread, but nope, like that my face dropped to discover yet another warm bread and butter.

With one box left, I knew it would have to be something more exciting sitting in a smaller, cold box. I opened it to discover the Sicilian Lemon & White Chocolate Roulade.

So far, my views on Pizza Express’s Too Good To Go were pretty low, but of course, I was never going to let the food go to waste and was going to try it out.

I won’t lie. I’m already a fan of garlic bread with mozzarella, so I knew this was going to be a win.

As always, the bread is nice and soft and there’s plenty of cheese that gives it some very nice flavour.

Moving onto the warm bread and butter, I was very underwhelmed to find that it was just that, a bit of bread with butter, that I got twice.

If there had been some sort of dip, topping, or anything else, then it would have tasted much nicer, but no, it was just so warm bread.

Last but not least, the roulade, was easily the best item. For one, it was not another bread item and had a bit more flavour than others.

Would I get the bag again? Sadly, no, I would rather just go and get a pizza from them.
