Business is booming at a popular Westhoughton takeaway after a famous TikToker was left “absolutely buzzing” over their “spectacular” food.

The Over Hulton Tandoori received a surprise visit from TikToker FoodReviewClub who bills himself as “The UK’s Number One Food Reviewer”.

FoodReviewClub, whose real name is Matthew Binge, was “loving” life as he tried the Indian and Bangladeshi takeaway’s lamb tikka stir fry, onion bhajis and lamb rangeela with mushroom rice.

“I have a feast for you today,” his review began.

Matthew praised the Rangeela and rice as “deep and rich” and rated it 9.5 out of 10.

The “tender and smoky” lamb tikka stir fry earned an 8.5.

And the onion bhajis were a perfect 10.

He said the restaurant deserved a “Paul Hollywood handshake”.

Maruf Rahman, The Over Hulton Tandoori owner, said: “When he came in, the staff were all excited.

“After trying our food, he was absolutely buzzing and said it was delicious.”

Maruf, known to customers as “Tee”, had recognised Matthew from his videos.

And the TikToker’s praise has brought in punters from all over Lancashire curious to try their food.

Maruf said: “We've had a lot of new faces coming in who’ve seen the video and want to try the food he ate.

“Many are coming from as far as Chorley, Swinton or Wigan.”

These new customers have not been disappointed.

Maruf said: “People have been saying they’ve really enjoyed our food and we’re their new favourite spot from now on."

“And we're happy with that.”

And the boost is long deserved.

The Over Hulton Tandoori has been in Westhoughton for 20 years.

He said: “We’ve are very active in the Over Hulton community.

“Most of our customers know us and we know them. There are a lot of regulars.

“But this is the first time a food reviewer or influencer has come.”

Maruf’s father Mohan Miah founded it.

He said: “When I was 24, he took a step back and passed it down to me. Ever since then, I’ve been running it.

“But, it’s very much a family business.

“Two of my uncles are chefs here. And the staff are like extended family.”

With a 4.5 out of 5 stars on Google Reviews and 4 on TripAdvisor, customers have long considered the takeaway a favourite.

And it is unsurprising FoodReviewClub praised it.

Maruf said: “Our food quality has to be of the highest standard.

“We always get in the best of everything and prepare food fresh on the day. Everything is made to order.”
