A man died at the age of just 31 after being found unresponsive in a deckchair.

Christopher Marshall died on July 9 this year at a home of multiple occupancy (HMO) on Avenue Street in Bolton.

Mr Marshall, who was of no fixed abode, had been with a friend at the address.

The friend found him unresponsive and not breathing in a deckchair in the morning.

PCO Robert Struttman said: "On July 9 this year, police were called to Avenue Street in Bolton by North West Ambulance Service.

"He was found deceased in the communal area of an HMO.

"Upon coming downstairs at 5.30am, a friend found him sat in a deckchair unresponsive and not breathing."

Pathologist Dr Ravindra Sawant conducted a post-mortem examination, giving Mr Marshall's cause of death as heroin and morphine toxicity.

PCO Struttman added: "There has been a police investigation and there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances."

Coroner Peter Sigee asked for statements from Mr Marshall's GP, NWAS and GMP, as well as for enquiries to be made to drug services to see if he was known to them.

He set the date for the next hearing as November 28 this year.
