The space age arrived in Bolton in 1968 in the unlikeliest place - a local laundrette.
These hi-tech washing machines had been installed at the laundrette on Green Lane and according to the Bolton Evening News at the time were proving to be a big hit with customers who reported that they were much quicker and would also take bigger loads than the ones they had replaced.
Although laundrettes still fulfill a valuable service today, in the Sixties there were far less domestic appliances and taking the weekly wash to the laundrette was a regular occurrence for many families.
Do you remember using washing machines like these? Have you any tales to tell about your trips to the laundromat?
