Bolton’s Ian McKellen has revealed he’s never heard an Oasis song after being asked if he’s excited about the band’s reunion.
The actor replied with “I’m not” when asked if he was “going crazy for it” while speaking to Absolute Radio yesterday (September 12)
Bolton School old boy Sir Ian,85, then cynically added: “Could it be they are charging such a lot for the tickets that they want to earn a living.”
Born in 1939, the Lord of the Rings star was 54 years old when Oasis’ first single, Supersonic, was released – so his rocking days may have admittedly been behind him.

After being asked about the Gallagher brothers re-uniting, he said: “Of course there’s hope for us all.
“Always look on the bright side of life.”
Oasis announced their reunion last month after years of speculation since their split in 2009.
The Britpop giants are set to play in Manchester’s Heaton Park on July 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20, 2025, while also performing in Cardiff, Edinburgh, London and Dublin throughout next summer
Sir Ian was on the radio show to promote his new film, The Critic, in which he plays a powerful London theatre critic in the 1930s.
