Every week we love to shine the spotlight on some of the best local venues that the borough has to offer in our Pub of the Week feature.
This week, we spoke to Jen Harrison, general manager at the Ainsworth Arms in Radcliffe, who has worked there for more than 14 years.
The Toby Carvery, located on Bury and Bolton Road, recently benefited from a month-long refurbishment and re-opened its doors last month.

Can you tell us some history about the pub?
It was named after the Ainsworth family, who were owners of a nearby of historic hall. The pub used to be called The Three Arrows.
Do you serve food?
Our tagline is the ‘Home of the Roast’ which sums it up really. We’re well-known for our carvery food and Sunday is our busiest day.
Is there an outdoor space?
Yes we do, we have an outdoor garden. It’s been made more accessible than it was with a new ramp installed during the refurbishment.
What’s the most popular drink you serve at the moment?
It has to be Madri pints.
Do you have an entertainment line-up at the pub?
We don’t at the moment but we looking at introducing a pub quiz next month.
What are the biggest challenges in the industry at the moment and how can you overcome them?
I think it’s recruitment. For us, we find that rewarding loyalty with internal progression helps and we do offer apprenticeships too.
What’s the best thing about running the pub?
I like seeing new faces and people every day, having new conversations.
What’s the worst thing about running the pub?
I honestly don’t know! I work for a loyal brand with good job security and have been here for a long time now.
Have you got any memorable moments?
It was great seeing our regular guests’ reactions to the new refurbishment.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Just a reminder that we’re getting booked up fast for Christmas so I’d encourage people to plan ahead. We have a breakfast with Santa event this year too.
