A hammer-wielding thug has been imprisoned after punching a man and calling him a 'doughnut'.
Jason Main, 34, injured his victim during the altercation in Atherton in July 2020.
The man hit his head on the ground when he fell and suffered a spiral fracture in his leg which he sustained during the fall.
On September 11, Main, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court
The court heard that the victim lived with his girlfriend in a block of flats in Atherton.
Also living there was a man known as Jock - Jason Main's father.
Prosecuting, Adam Brown said: "In the run-up to this offence, Jock had been making inappropriate remarks about the victim's girlfriend."
The court heard that on July 20, 2020, the victim went out drinking in Atherton with his girlfriend and another friend. When at the Wheatsheaf, they saw Main.
Mr Brown said: "The victim asked Jason Main to ask his dad to stop making comments about them."
An argument between the two became heated, before one group left.
Mr Brown added: "The victim had more drinks and got drunk to the point where he had no recollection of what happened.
"His girlfriend says afterwards they continued drinking in the Punchbowl until last orders.
"They went back to their flat but could not find the keys, so began kicking the door.
"Jock and Jason came out - Jock was holding a hammer in his hand."
Main and his victim got into a physical confrontation.

Mr Brown said: "The defendant punched him to the face, causing him to fall to the floor.
"The victim appeared to have hit his head and became momentarily unconscious.
"The defendant also smashed his phone with the hammer."
Main and Jock returned to their flat, but kept coming back out, with the victim's girlfriend saying to "leave it".
Mr Brown added: "At one point the defendant said 'I will do it again, I knocked you out you doughnut'."
The victim then began "screaming about a pain in his leg" and was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.
Main was arrested by police and told them in his interview that when he was back at the flats he thought the door was being "kicked in" and that the victim had passed out "because he was drunk".
A scan at the hospital found the victim had suffered a spiral fracture near to his ankle.
Main pleaded guilty to section 20 grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was also sentenced for a breach of bail after failing to attend his trial in May this year.
Main has 31 previous convictions for 61 offences.
Defending, Paul Wood said: "Since being in custody, the defendant has completed some basic education. He has not been in custody for a long period, but he is trying to make use of it.
"When he failed to appear, the defendant says at the time he lived a very frenzied lifestyle and was using drugs. He is a drug user who didn't give the date the priority that he should have."
Mr Wood made reference to Main's mental health issues, struggling with depression and anxiety and being medicated for them.
He also made reference to substance abuse issues, but highlighted he is now clean, having cooperated with a drug worker in prison. Mr Wood also highlighted the remorse of the defendant.
A letter written by the defendant was also given to Judge Nicholas Clarke KC, outlining his remorse and his circumstances at the time, which included the death of his mother.
Concluding, Judge Clarke said: "You have caused a very serious injury. There was a weapon present at the scene which you took into your hand after the punch, which knocked him over."
Judge Clarke sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment for his offences and placed a five year restraining order on him regards the victim.
