A village post office has reopened under new management.
Blackrod Post Office is now serving customers at its same location on 6 Blackhorse Street.
The branch was temporarily closed since March due to the resignation of the postmaster.
This left residents having to travel one-and-a-half miles to the nearest post office in Adlington.
The opening hours are: Monday to Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm. This provides 51 hours of Post Office service a week for the convenience of customers
The hours are longer than before.
David Hunt, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to have restored Post Office services to Blackrod as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.”
Customers of main UK banks can access accounts at new branch
Services include bill payment, cash withdrawals and foreign currency, postage, home shopping collections and returns.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bolton West MP Phil Brickell said it was ‘good news’ that the Post Office was reopening, adding that he looked forward to paying a visit.
