A teenager was taken to hospital for treatment after he was struck by a vehicle on one of the main roads through Horwich.

The emergency services including the police and the paramedics attended Chorley New Road at around 4.20pm on Monday.

On the day the police said a teenager was taken into hospital for treatment after he was struck by a vehicle.

His injuries were not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening according to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police.

Today (September 10) the paramedics said an air ambulance from North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) and an ambulance from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) attended to take the boy to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

An ambulance spokesperson told The Bolton News: "We responded to a 999 call following a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian with an ambulance and air ambulance attending.

"A teenage boy was taken to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for treatment."

A police spokesperson told The Bolton News: "It was a road traffic collision between a vehicle and a child. We were called at 4.20pm. 

"The child was taken to hospital but their injuries were not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. No arrests were made."

Chorley New Road was shut for around two and a half hours after the incident with all the bus services between Bolton and Blackrod and all the bus services between Bolton and Horwich on a diversion down Lee Lane and Winter Hey Lane.

Separately it is understood there was a two-car crash around the same area at around the same time but there were not believed to be any injuries as a result of the two-car crash according to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police.
